Unmasking Brain Injury

For the month of June, members from the Headwaters Acquired Brain Injury Group (HABI) and clients from MindForward Brain Injury Services are taking part in a province-wide movement; Unmasking Brain Injury. The goal of the campaign is to provide brain injury survivours and caregivers the opportunity to create their own masks, tell their own story and create opportunities for the masks to be displayed in public places for educational and outreach purposes.

HABI and MindForward, along with 20 other brain injury and stroke survivor associations across Ontario, joined the Unmasking Brain Injury movement to support the mission to:

  1. PROMOTE awareness of the prevalence of brain injury;

  2. GIVE survivours a voice and the means to educate others of what it’s like to live with a brain injury;

  3. SHOW others that persons living with a disability due to their brain injury are like anyone else, deserving of dignity, respect, compassion and the opportunity to prove their value as citizens in their respective communities.
